BREWING YOUR COFFEE
There are many different techniques in brewing a fine cup of coffee (Drip method, Open Pot method, Pumping Percolators, etc.) and no one technique is right for everyone. In order to get the best taste, you should brew your coffee based on your needs and individual desires. The quality and flavour of your coffee is not only dependent on the brewing process but also on the type of coffee you choose. Wallenford Jamaica Blue Mountain® Coffee offers a premium taste with a rich flavour and intense aroma that will leave you wanting a second cup.
Brewing Tips
-
Clean your equipment thoroughly after each use by rinsing it with hot water and towel dry. Ensure that there is no residue left on any part of the equipment and no build-up of coffee oil to prevent a bitter, rancid flavour in future brews.
-
Purchase freshly roasted coffee if possible as it is imperative to a superb brew. You should also purchase in small quantities to preserve freshness (ideally you should buy every 1-2 weeks).
-
The Grind: If you use whole beans, always grind them as close to brew time as possible. For the best taste, do not grind the beans too fine or too coarse.
-
Never reuse your coffee grounds as the desirable flavours have already been extracted.
-
Use filtered or bottled water for the best taste and ensure that it is of room temperature.
-
Use two level table spoons of ground coffee for every six ounces of water. Add more or less coffee to suit your individual taste and preferences.
-
The drip method of brewing is recommended and the contact between the water and coffee should be no more than 5 minutes.
-
You should maintain water temperature between 200°F (93°C) - 250°F (121°C) for optimal flavour.
-
Enjoy your coffee immediately after brewing.
-
Never reheat your coffee.
